三十七、屡见不鲜

西汉初有个人叫陆贾（jiǎ），

口才好随机善应变。

以前楚汉相争时，

刘邦常把他派遣。

在诸侯之间搞联络，

陆贾十分有才干。

刘邦初定天下后，

陆贾又出使南越去规劝。

南越王果然被说服归了汉，

还赏赐了陆贾珠宝黄金好几千。

刘邦死后到孝文帝，

吕后在朝中专了权。

陆贾不愿在朝中，

干脆辞职回家园。

五个儿子都成家立业当农民，

他自己常坐车把宝剑佩身边。

游山玩水很愉快，

还带些能歌善舞的人作陪伴。

有一次他把几个儿子全喊来，

既像命令又似规劝：

“今天和你们约定好，

今后不管是哪一天，

我不管到你们谁的家，

都要住上整十天。

连随从都要招待好，

拌料喂马莫怠慢。

假如我不幸死在谁家里，

谁就能得到我的车马和宝剑。

我来往次数比较多，

你们可别有烦怨。

要是因经常打扰讨厌我，

我处置你们可莫抱怨！”

到后来“屡见不鲜”作成语，

常比喻见某种事物次数多，

渐渐觉得不稀罕。

Many Times It Happens，There Is Nothing New

In the Western Han Dynasty（206B.C.—24A.D.）there was a famous man named Lu Jia who had a sil⁃ver tongue.In former times when Chu and Han were at war the Emperor Liu Bang，often sent him on mis⁃sions，liaising to organize the dukes，through which he had shown his great talent of eloquence.When Emperor Liu Bang had just founded the Dynasty，Lu Jia was sent to Nanyue to persuade them to surren⁃der.It turned out that the King of Nanyue did became subject to the Western Han Dynasty，and even awar⁃ded Lu Jia a great amount of jewels and gold.

Following Liu Bang was Emperor Xiaowen，but Queen Lu was the actual power in the court.Lu Jia then did not want to remain in the court，and he sim⁃ply resigned and went back home.His five sons had all settled in the countryside and became peasants.He himself often took the chariot and a sword with him.He took delight in climbing mountains and row⁃ing boats，usually accompanied by singers and danc⁃ers.

Once he called up all of his sons，and in an order⁃ing more than a cautioning tone told them：“Today I will enter into an agreement with you all.On which⁃ever day from today on，to whomever of you I may make a visit，I'll have a ten⁃day stay.You are to en⁃tertain each of my train.If I should unfortunately die in one of your homes，that son could luckily keep my chariot and horses and my sword.My coming and go⁃ing may happen many times.You should not feel tired and bored.If by all this you are annoyed at me，I will punish you and you are not to blame me for it.”

So later“Many Times It Happens，There Is Noth⁃ing New“became an idiom which means something may occur so many times that people do not consider it at all new.
