九十一、愚公移山

古时候有太行王屋两座山，

两山都在冀州南。

有一位北山愚公九十多，

面山居住出门难。

这天他唤来儿孙召开家庭会，

号召大家齐挖山。

儿孙们或者反对或赞成，

他老伴心里装个大疑团。

第二天他带领儿孙动了手，

挖的挖来担的担。

要把这大山全部搬到海里去，

出门走路才方便。

有一个寡妇的孩子来帮忙，

被叫做智叟的老头先看见。

智叟说愚公家白费气力瞎逞能，

老老小小根本不能把大山搬。

愚公一听不服气，

歇下担子和智叟辩。

愚公说：“你这老头不晓事，

瞎说胡道目光短浅。

你须知，俺死了还有俺儿子，

儿孙后代传万年。

这山虽大难再高，

搬掉一点少一点！”

愚公他不理智叟松劲话，

带领儿孙干得欢。

这精神感动天上玉帝后，

派来了两位好神仙，

把两座大山全搬走，

愚公门前现青天。

这说明做事必须有毅力，

不怕困难和艰险。

坎坷过后有坦途，

勇气毅力是关键。

The Foolish Old Man Removed the Mountains

In ancient times there were two mountains：Wang⁃wu and Taihang，both located in the south of Jizhou.An old man in his nineties who lived to the north of the two mountains，confronting them，imposing on his family much inconvenience.

One day，he called his sons and grandsons to⁃gether and held a family meeting.He called on them to remove the mountains.Some of the members were for and some were against it，and his wife was the most doubting.The following day he led his children and grandchildren to work，to dig the stones up and to carry them away.They were determined to carry the mountains to the sea，so that it would be conven⁃ient for them to go out and come in.

A small boy with a widowed mother came to their help，while an old man named“Wise Old Man”took notice of all this.The“Wise Old Man”stated that they were all trying in vain，with all his young and old members.The Foolish Old Man was not easy to get o⁃ver.He rested his shoulder⁃pole and argued with him.The Foolish Old Man said，“You old muddle⁃head，you only know that under your nose，you must re⁃member that if I die my son lives.My sons and grand⁃sons will go on for ever.Though this mountain is very high，it can be removed little by little.”

The Foolish Old Man totally neglected the Wise Old Man's discouraging words，and kept on digging perseverantly.The Foolish Old Man's spirit moved the Jade Emperor in heaven so much that he sent two an⁃gels down there，and carried the two mountains a⁃way，showing blue skies to the old man's doorway.

This story indicates that we need quite a dose of willpower in our work，fearing not difficulties and hardships.Passing through the rough road and then to the smooth and even trip，courage and perseverance are the key points.
